Welcome to the Bed and Breakfast 'Le Gavachon', in the heart of the Gascony countryside. Le Gavachon is our family home all year round, open to our hosts for 8 months in the year.
This house started its life as a barn- a ""borde""- where grapes were stocked, surrounded by vineyards and was mentioned in the departmental archives in 1666. After many modifications throughout the following years it has now become an imposing country house which we have entirely renovated and modernised whilst attempting to maintain the Gascony style architecture and charm.
The dependencies still house the wine press and grape stocking areas although the vines disappeared in the 1950s due to illness. The vines have now been replaced by organic farming of a variety of cereal crops on the 15 hectares of land surrounding the house.
The outbuildings have been converted to a gite and a suite of rooms for a family, the 'Cottage', that are in the grounds of the house.
The Gite and Cottage share a garden area and both have spaces to sit outside to eat and to be independant of the main house.
Auch, 7kms away, is the administrative capital of Gascony and counts 25,000 inhabitants in and around the town. This region is particularly well known for it's gastronomy and there are many restaurants promoting local food and proposing tasty regional cooking. We can help you to find a place to eat without having to travel more than a few minutes to get there. Or otherwise you can shop at the great local markets and eat a picnic in the garden if you prefer.
